  1. 1 Planktonic cultures and biofilms of S. mutans were treated with 2-fold serial dilutions of gentamicin alone or gentamicin combined with 5, 10, 20 µg/mL OMVs for 24 h. Fresh BHI was added and incubated for another 24 h to allow the detachment of viable cells within biofilms. OD600 was measured before and after the incubation to show the inhibition of bacterial growth. MICs were calculated as the geometric mean from the replicates
