All cultures were inoculated with the same number of spores (~2x105 spores). The error bars indicate the standard deviation of three biological replicates for glucose cultures and two biological replicates for cellulose + lactose cultures. Significance of the difference between the Rut-C30 and the mutant strains was calculated with the two-tailed t-test with independent variables (*P < 0.05, **P < 0.01, ***P < 0.001)
