The effect of exogenous PUFAs on motility of E. coli. Soft agar motility plates were prepared, supplemented with 300 μM of the appropriate fatty acid or absence thereof (after cooling to 55 °C). 1 μL of inoculum (OD600 = 0.1) was pipetted into motility plates and observed after 12 h incubation at 30 °C. Each value represents the mean and standard deviation. Shown is a representative assay from two separate biological replicates performed in quadruplicate. Asterisks indicate p-values determined to be less than 0.005 when compared to the no fatty acid controls
