Autoagglutination and biofilm formation of C. jejuni strains. C. jejuni NCTC 11168 and its derivatives were cultured for the designated times. Strains that strongly agglutinate will fall to the bottom of the tube, and a 200 μl samples from the top of the suspensions were taken to determine the OD600 values. The autoagglutination abilities of the C. jejuni wild-type strain (hollow circle), the flhF mutant strain (hollow triangle) and the flhF complemented strain (cross) were compared (a). The formed biofilms were stained with crystal violet, and biofilm formation was quantitated by determining the OD570 value (b). The data are presented as the means ± standard deviation (SD) from three independent experiments. Significant differences (P < 0.05 *, and P < 0.01 **) are indicated by asterisks
