Chemotaxis assay. Syringe-capillary assays were performed with 100 mM glutamate and 100 mM pyruvate as chemoattractants. Error bars show the standard deviation from three biological replicates, each performed in technical duplicates or triplicates for glutamate chemotaxis and a representative experiment, performed in technical triplicates for pyruvate chemotaxis. The tlp12 mutant shows strongly reduced chemotaxis towards glutamate and pyruvate. **p < 0.005
