Cytotoxicity levels of toxins A and B in the mfd mutant. Cultures of 630Δerm, the mfd mutant or the complement were grown in TY or TYG media. Cell lysates and culture supernatants were prepared at various time points. Samples were normalized for optical density of the culture and analyzed for the presence of toxins A and B by cytotoxicity on HT29 cells (toxin A) or Vero cells (toxin B).
