Viability of established cultures, as determined using a redox dye, following exposure to test rinses. Cultures of Actinomyces viscosus (black bars) and mixed salivary bacteria (white bars) were exposed to mouthrinse formulations (final concentration, 10 % v/v) containing CPC (TR) or CPC and fluoride (TFR) in triplicate. Control rinses without CPC (CR and CFR, respectively) and a treatment-free control (NTC) were also included. Data show mean viability (background-corrected A570-A600), as determined with a redox indicator dye. Representative images are included. Both test rinses caused significant reductions in viability compared to their respective controls in three separate experiments (*, p < 0.05, n = 3)
