From: Violacein induces cell death by triggering mitochondrial membrane hyperpolarization in vitro
Cells death induced by violacein determined by flow cytometry. The percentage of CHO-K1 (a), MRC-5 (b) and HeLa cells (c) exposed to 0.75–6 μM violacein presenting externalization of phosphatidylserine in the outer layer are shown. The Annexin V+/P− cells plus Annexin V+/PI+ cells were detected as apoptotic cells. Annexin V−/PI+ cells were labeled as necrotic cells.
