Bacterial loads in C57Bl/6J mice infected subcutaneously with pGEN- luxCDABE -carrying Y. pestis. Animals were infected with ~200 CFU at a cervical site. Organs were harvested and plated for bacterial counts at the indicated hours post inoculation on BHI alone (gray symbols) and BHI + carbenicillin (white symbols). Bacterial numbers are reported in CFU/g of tissue. Each mark represents a value from a single organ and the horizontal lines represent the median of the group.
