MglA represents a new family of monomeric GTPases in prokaryotes. Shown is the alignment of the predicted sequences of MglA from M. xanthus with Deinococccus radiodurans, Thermus thermophilus, Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus, and Geobacter metallireducens. Conserved sequence elements (PM1, PM3 and G2) for GTP binding are boxed.
