F-actin was stained with phalloidin (A), and presence of R. helvetica visualized by anti-rickettsial rabbit antiserum and FITC-labelled anti-rabbit immunoglobulin (B). In the merged image (C), the position of the green, fluorescent FITC-labeled bacteria can be seen next to small red stained actin nodes within the actin network and with close-up view (magnified by 120%) in image (D).
