Increasing elongation time significantly reduced the fraction of chimeras that could be detected. A Chimera detection remained highest for samples amplified with the V3-V4 primer set and B lowest for samples amplified with KAPA HiFi polymerase. However, increasing elongation time with KAPA HiFi did not significantly reduce the fraction of chimeras detected. Data shown represent the putatively chimeric fraction of rarified sequence reads, with means signified with green circles and medians with wide black bars
