Comparison of representative tissue collected at the site of disease and marginal tissue collected from adjacent healthier tissue. A subset of 11 infants with multiple tissue sections were included in the analysis. Of the 11 infants, six were diagnosed with necrotising enterocolitis (NEC) and five were diagnosed with spontaneous intestinal perforation (SIP).
