  1. At least 10 larvae were collected per feeding group. In some cases the larvae in an antibiotic-treated group died (−) and not only could no larvae be collected, but also no larvae reached maturity and laid eggs. In the interest of continuing the experiment, in such cases eggs laid by the adults from the control (no drug) group were moved to the food spiked with oxytetracycline. (+) indicates survival and that a sample could be collected
