Kinetics of phage induction in toxin-producing and toxin non-producing E. coli O157 isolates. Two toxin-producing E. coli O157 strains (a M163; c M18) along with one toxin negative E. coli O157 strain (d M103) and positive control strain E. coli O157:H7 (b NCTC 12079) were used. Each culture was grown to an opitical density (OD) of 0.2 at 600 nm and then separated into two aliquots, one was treated with mitomycin C (■) and the other one was not (□) and bacterial cell growth in both aliquots were followed at every 1 h interval upto 11 h.
