Equal amounts of collected RNAP complexes or soluble proteins were separated on SDS-PAGE, group 1 σ factor SigA (a, b) and group 2 σ factors SigB (c, d), SigC (e, f) and SigE (g, h) were detected by immunoblot analysis. The σ factor content was normalized to α or β RNAP core subunit. For each σ factor the value of the WT-RNAP-HIS strain at standard conditions (Std) was set to 100 and the other samples were compared respectively.
