Susceptibility of S. aureus biofilm to combinations of antibiotics. Strains USA300 LAC, msaABCR deletion mutant, and the complementation biofilm were grown on MBEC™-HTP plates and treated overnight with antibiotic combinations: a. daptomycin/rifampicin, b. vancomycin/rifampicin, c. linezolid/rifampicin, d. daptomycin/gentamicin, e. vancomycin/gentamicin, or f. linezolid/gentamicin. Antibiotics amount used are multiples of the combined MIC of the combination. These results represent the means of three independent experiments performed in triplicate. Control represents biofilm grown without antibiotics. Error bars represent SE. Student’s t-test and one-way ANOVA (OriginPro) followed by Tukey’s test was used to compare the results of the wild-type to mutants (* p-value <0.05, ** p-value <0.005)
