Surface proteins of B. burgdorferi are degraded by serine protease Proteinase K (PK). Whole cell lysates were treated with doses ranging from 0 to 200 μg/mL PK prior to separation using SDS-12% PAGE. Gels were either visualized using Coomassie blue staining (a) or transferred to a PVDF membrane and probed with antibodies (b).
