Anti-mycobacterial property of NAC occurs independently of the host NADPH oxidase system. BMDMs generated from a C57BL/6 and b gp91Phox −/− mice were infected with M. tuberculosis and intracellular growth of the bacteria was assessed as described in Methods. The data represent the means ± SEM of triplicate samples. Significant differences were observed for the indicated groups (*p < 0.05). The data shown are representative of at least two independent experiments
