From: TLR9 mediates S. aureus killing inside osteoblasts via induction of oxidative stress
CpG-ODNs inhibit intracellular growth of S. aureus in SAOS-2 osteoblast-like cell line. SAOS-2 cells were pretreated with 250 nM of ODN2216, ODN2006, or ODN2243 4 h before infection or left untreated. Bacteria infected osteoblasts at a MOI of 30 for 30 min after which gentamicin (30 μg/ml) was added and intracellular bacterial growth was monitored at 4 h and 20 h post-infection (**P < 0, 05; *P < 0, 10)
