carA contributes to fitness in tomato. a Four-week-old Tomato cv. MoneyMaker tomato plants were dipped in suspensions containing 1 × 107 CFU ml−1 of WT, ΔP32, or ΔcarA. At the time points indicated, bacteria were extracted from leaves and plated on KB containing rifampicin for enumeration. The values shown are the average CFU/mg with standard deviation from three plants per strain.
