Metabolism of 22:6n-3 and VFA accumulation at different time points by Butyrivibrio proteoclasticus P18. Growth medium included 50 % (v/v) of autoclaved-uncentrifuged rumen fluid. Hydrogen was used as the headspace gas. Residual 22:6n-3 in the tube and ▲ VFA accumulated. Results are means and SD from 2 biological replicates, each of which had 2 analytical replicates. For residual 22:6n-3 and accumulated VFA, data points with different letters are significantly different (P < 0.05)
