Phylogenetic tree of housekeeping genes: The evolutionary history of 26 housekeeping genes of a selection of strains representing phylum Spirochaetes was inferred by the maximum likelihood method [47] based on the general time reversible model [48]. A discrete Gamma distribution was used to model evolutionary rate differences among sites (+G, parameter). The model allowed some sites to be in variable (+I, parameter). The clade containing B. hyodysenteriae, B. intermedia and B. suanatina strains are shown in bold. Treponema denticola aT and Borrelia burgdorferi B31T were used as outgroup. Numbers above branches represent support values obtained from 1000 bootstrap replicates. The tree is drawn to scale with branch lengths measured in the number of substitutions per site. Evolutionary analysis was conducted in MEGA6 [50]
