One-day-old ICR mice were intracerebrally inoculated with EV-A71CC063 (106.5 CCID50/ml) or medium (mock control). Representative sections from mouse tissues at 6 days post-infection (grades 4-5) are shown. The viral antigen (arrow) was detected in the hind limb muscle (b), spinal skeletal muscle (d), cardiac muscle (f), and lung tissue (h). In contrast, no viral antigens were detected in the corresponding tissues (a, c, e, and g) of the non-infected mice. Magnification, 400 ×
