D. discoideum amoebae produce fewer spores on more concentrated media (SM as opposed to SM/5) with potentially unpalatable bacteria as their food source, E. coli strains IAI52, IAI12, and 536 . By contrast, they produce more spores on concentrated media with palatable bacteria as their food source, E. coli strain IAI1, a significant interaction: χ2 = 267.99, df = 4, P < 0.001.
