Farmer and non-farmer amoebae do not differ in their overall plaque diameters on E. coli. Figure shows histograms of mean plaque diameter across amoeba clone x bacterial strain combinations. Dashed lines show means of all amoebae x bacteria interactions for farmers (top panel) and nonfarmers (bottom panel). The average mean plaque diameter of farmers on E. coli is slightly lower than that of nonfarmers, but these differences are not statistically significant (χ2 = 1.02, df = 1, P = 0.31).
