  1. aThe consecutive screening for ESBL-producing Enterobacteria was started after the beginning of the study. Therefore not all meat samples were screened for ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae.
  2. bThree samples were contaminated with two different E. coli isolates. These isolates were phenotypically different and harbored different beta-lactamase encoding genes.
