Virulence phenotype of selected Pfv strains in rice. Five week old susceptible rice cultivar Baldo were pin prick inoculated by dipping into 106 cfu/ml inoculums of Pfv strains. A: Tn5 mutants Pfv 80, Pfv 90, Pfv 102, Pfv 169, Pfv 188, Pfv 270, Pfv 420, Pfv 445 and Pfv 480. B: knock-out mutants of Pfv 80, Pfv 90, Pfv 102, Pfv 169, Pfv 188, Pfv 270, Pfv 420, Pfv 445 and Pfv 480. C: complemented strains Pfv 90 + pCos 90, Pfv 420 + pCos 420 and Pfv 445 + pCos 445. Pfv UPB0736 (WT) and MQ water were used as positive and negative control respectively. Figure showing the disease symptoms were taken 10 days post inoculation.
