Effect of SfaX protein overproduction on expression of clyA. Transcription of clyA was monitored by luciferase measurements with the clyA::luxAB UPEC restored construct COE2 carrying different plasmids as follows: COE2 carrying the sfaX + plasmid clone pAES1 (COE3), COE2 carrying the vector pBR322 (COE4) and COE2 carrying the papI + plasmid clone pHMG95 (COE6). The bacteria were grown in LB medium (Figure6) and the growth curve data are from representative experiments. The data showing relative Lux activities represent the average values of three independent experiments and vertical bars indicate the standard deviations.
