IsaB binds eDNA on the cell surface. S. aureus strains 10833, Sa113, and their isogenic isaB deletion mutants were assayed for their ability to bind to a fluorescently labeled oligonucleotide. The y-axis represents the relative light units. Wildtype fluorescence levels were significantly higher with a probability value of p = 0.006 for 10833 versus 10833ΔisaB::ern and Sa113 versus Sa113ΔisaB::erm (Student's unpaired T test).
