Effect of oxidative stresses on the expression of msrA. A. β-galactosidase activity of the msrA::lacZ transcriptional fusion. BSY4546 (msrA::lacZ) was grown in ED minimal medium to mid-exponential phase and treated with or without PQ (100 μM) or H2O2 (100 μM) for 1.5 hours. B. Real time RT-PCR analysis of msrA expression in wild-type strain (168) subjected to oxidative stresses. 100% expression is defined as the expression of msrA without any oxidant treatment. Strain 168 was grown in ED minimal medium to mid-exponential phase and incubated with or without PQ (100 μM) or H2O2 (100 μM) for 15 min.
