Determination of bacterial counts in the spleen of mice immunized with 1 x 103CFU of the gidA mutant vaccine strain. Aliquots (0.1 g) of spleen were homogenized, serially diluted, and plated out on SS and LB agar to determine bacterial counts. The P value of 0.0014 shows a significant decrease in bacteria on day 42 post-immunization when compared to day 7 post-immunization. No bacteria were recovered from the spleens of the control mice.
