  1. a Colony size was graded as follows: 0 = Not visible, 1 = colonies <1 mm in diameter, 2 = 1.0 -2.0 mm. 3 = >2 mm in diameter
  2. b Mixed colonies, a few large colonies growing in close proximity to each other but most colonies were hardly visible
