  1. Strain cLP6a cultures were grown to stationary phase at 10°C, 28°C or 35°C, or grown at 28° in the presence of PAHs (naphthalene or phenanthrene, at 5 mmol l-1) or antibiotics (tetracyclin or chloramphenicol, at 1/4 MIC). FA contents are expressed as the mean weight % of total FA detected in two measurements; deviation from the mean was typically <1% and at most 3% of the measured values.
