ALN, a cholesterol-dependent cytolysin, has hemolytic activity that is less sensitive to cholesterol inhibition than PFO. His-tagged CDCs were preincubated with dilutions of cholesterol for 30 min at room temperature prior to hemolytic assay. Abbreviations as in Figure 2.
