16S rRNA based phylogenetic tree of oral lactobacilli. The flags indicate the different oligonucleotide probes used in this study, their colored lines point to the respective phylogenic groups detected by the probes. All listed oral lactobacilli reference strains and phylotypes were retrieved from the Human Oral Microbiome Database [11]. The phylogenetic tree was constructed with Leuconostoc lactis as the outgroup using the Tree Builder algorithm of the Ribosomal Data Base Project (http://rdp.cme.msu.edu/index.jsp).
