¹ The letter (d.) indicates sampling times where a given species was detected in the TTGE gel. The symbol (+) indicates growth of a species in the smear. Growth was assumed in two cases, i.e. when a band was detected at a sampling time, while absent from the previous sampling time, or when the intensity of the detected band increased, compared to the previous sampling time (valid only at day 7 and 14, i.e. for a 1 log-increase of the total cell count).
