Proteolytic activity of P. brasiliensis protein extracts. Yeast cells were incubated in chemically defined MMcM medium with or without nitrogen sources (ammonium sulfate, asparagine and cystine) for 8 h. Protease activity was obtained by using azocasein assay. Activity was measured at 436 nm. A: Protease activity obtained in protein extracts of yeast cells incubated in MMcM medium. 1: without protease inhibitors; 2: with PMSF (1 mM); 3: with Pepstatin A (100 μM); 4: with EDTA (5 mM).
