Analysis of major intracellular solutes in A. tumefaciens 10c2. Cells were grown in MAS minimal medium with 20 mM mannitol and 100 mM (A), 200 mM (B) or 400 mM (C) NaCl. Cellular extracts were analyzed by 13C-NMR. Resonances due to trehalose (T), mannitol (M), glutamate (G), and mannosucrose (MS) are indicated. Peaks due to the carboxylate groups of glutamate (at 175.2 and 181.9 ppm) are not shown.
